Wanna see what I was yelling about....??!?

Stampin' Up clear mount stamps!!
Seriously, this is what I was yelling about a couple of weeks ago--and in 2 more weeks you can order them for yourself! I love love love the design!!! The clear blocks have a groove around the edge like our wood blocks do.  See the DVD cases that hold the stamps sets? There are images of the stamps on the binding and the front--soooo easy to see what you're looking for now! AWESOME!!

Now that I have my dream job (secular--the REAL DREAM JOB would involve me stamping all day!!) and have two weeks of vacation (school nurse is my full time gig, remember?) I'll have more time to play and post some pics of super cute stuff.  Right now I'm sweatin' it trying to get my Christmas cards finished.  Yeah, once again they'll be more like New Year's cards. Why do I always procrastinate.  I need to work on that...but I've been saying that for years now.  I should just embrace it!! HA! I'm not posting my Christmas card until after I've mailed them--would like it to be a little bit of a surprise for my friends. :)

Merry Christmas soon!!! :D

BIG NEWS! and other stuff

The new Occasions Mini Catalog is going out the mail today and you will LOVE what you see! (At least I LOVE IT).  In addition to the Wood Block stamps, Stampin' Up is now going to offer CLEAR BLOCK MOUNT STAMP SETS!!! Now, before you freak out about how much you *might* hate clear block stamps....Stampin' Up is going to use the SAME rubber!!! I love it.  My biggest issue with most "clear" stamps is the plastic, or acrylic, or whatever most other stamp companies call "rubber" does not hold ink like Stampin' Up's rubber.  I won't go into more detail (and I can't post pictures...yet)...because you'll get to see the pictures SOON in your Mini Catalog when it arrives in the mail.
The Occasions Mini Catalog sales period is January 5-April 30, 2010

OOOOOOooooo and SALE-A-BRATION is starting the same time!!! From January 5th through March 31st--with every $50 you spend in Stampin' Up you get to choose a FREE item from the Sale-A-Bration catalog! This year they've included a NEW STREAMLINED PUNCH! There is also a pack of Decorative Paper to choose from. WOW!!! You can also reap the benefits if you HOST a workshop that totals in $300 or more.

If you decide you'd like to benefit from the discount as a demonstrator and you sign up during Sale-A-Bration you get to choose a new stamp set from the Idea Book & Catalog (the BIG ONE) valued at up to $47.95.  FOR FREE!!! The most expensive stamp set we have is $47.95 so you get to choose ANY stamp set from the entire catalog for FREE on top of all the goodies you get in your starter kit at a huge discount! AAAAAMAZING!!!

Did you know Stampin' Up has maintained a DORMANT LIST OF STAMP SETS? I forgot they did! BWAHAHAHA!

Get Ill Blog Hop!

Welcome to the GET ILL BLOG HOP! I'm the last stop on this fun play on the Get Well bandwagon! If you haven't already had the flu, maybe you'll get it soon.  I mean that in the BEST possible way! Or...if you're like ME, when you get your flu shot, you will for sure get sick!  I just spent the last week getting over a mini-flu (that's not a medical term for real)....I got my flu shot and about 24 hours later I wasn't sick enough to NOT WORK, but sick enough to take Theraflu and DayQuil.  ANYWAY...I digress!!!
Some of my Stampin' Sistas (from Twitter and real life) and I decided to have a little fun with a Blog Hop in the Flu Season....so here are the cards I made for the occasion.  In retrospect I wish I'd had a Pig Stamp, I'd have had a lot of fun with some little swine-y on my cards.  But--here's what I got:

This card (above) has the Medallion stamp embossed in white on Elegant Eggplant cardstock. The greeting is inked with a marker and comes from the Grateful Greetings set in the Holiday Mini catalog. The ribbon is Ribbon Originals-Mistletoe, also from the Holiday Mini catalog.

I am SOOOOO loving the sentiment from the Full of Life set...my hubby and I got a good laugh about how "perfect" this went with the Get Ill theme....don't you think? BWAHAHAHA
With this card I inked up a couple of the flowers from the Pretties Kit (Stampin' Up!) with Elegant Eggplant classic ink and attached them with silver brads. The rick-rack (can you even see it? it's in the middle of the card LOL) is from the Ribbon Originals-ORCHARD.

All papers are from Stampin' Up: Elegant Eggplant, Old Olive and Night & Day Decorative Series Paper (DSP), all inks are Stampin' Up as well: White Craft, Elegant Eggplant, Old Olive, Basic Black.

I used the Stampin' Up Jumble Alphabet for "flu" and Gina K Designs "Nurse Feelgood" for my syringe. The sentiments come from Stampin' Up's Full of Life or Grateful Greetings.

My friend Auntie Princess of Etsy fame is going to be judging our cards--all in good fun.  (I'm my own worst critic EVAH.)  But in tribute to my friend, please visit her awesome Etsy Shop for all things awesome and vintage.  She is amazingly talented!!!

Now...if you happened by my blog and this whole blog hop thing has you a bit confused, PUHLEEZ start at the beginning with my friend Leslie Hanna's site aka The Crooked Stamper and see how this GET ILL got started!!! SO FUN!!!

If you'd like more information of some of the great products featured above, please contact me through my Stampin' Up website

My new HEADER!!!

One of my newest besties EVAH is Lydia Fiedler, you may also know her as Understandblue. She is a brilliant stampin' sista and crafter. Super creative!  You must click on the linky above to go to her Blog.  She is HILARIOUS (my brother's favorite word, but that's another story) and also hosts these great WEBINARS for Google Reader (which I have get to do), and BLOGS.  The other neat thing Lydia does is design blog headers....she won a contest and designed MARTHA STEWART'S craft blog header....um yes, MARTHA STEWART!!!! Ok, I'll stop yelling.

ANYwhoooo...I gave Lydia some parameters...what my likes/dislikes are and she gave me a first draft which was super cute but I started to think "what about....??? or...???" oh boy. I'm so glad she's still my friend because I woulda been OMG girl STOP.  She gave me another couple of revisions and when it came down to it guess which won the most votes? THE FIRST ONE! BWAHAHAHAHAHA  Poor Lydia, all that extra work for nuttin!

But me likey my new banner!!! THANK YOU LYDIA!!!!

My name is Dana, and I'm obsessed with Scotland!

Have I mentioned that I'm obsessed with Scotland?  Love everything Scottish, can't wait to go to Scotland someday....if I liked Whiskey I would so drink Scotch Whiskey, I love Walker Shortbread cookies and Robin Williams' impression of a Scotsman.  Ok, that last one isn't really Scottish--but it IS funny!

I think my obsession began when I married my hubby--my married name is KEITH.  We have a Castle near Aberdeen, Scotland.  Well, WE don't, but my hubby's ancestors did.  It's Dunnottar Castle and The Amazing Race Season 3 had a pitstop there! My favorite show EVAH AND my favorite country!) A cousin traveled to Dunnottar Castle a few years ago and when they arrived, and signed the guest book and discussed they were KEITHs, the Castle caretakers took them out to dinner!
Wow, this post is already too long--but I'm not even to the best part of my story--so hang with me.
Then I read the novel OUTLANDER, by Diana Gabaldon.  Fantastic book if you're a girl and you like Sci-Fi, time travel and nursing.  There's a love story in there.  Fanstastic book--I've read it 3 times (and it's the 1st in a series of 7, all over 700 pages each).  OH, so OUTLANDER takes place in Scotland, it's also an historical fiction.

So, I've done some research into the Keith Clan and bought hubby a proper Keith Clan Tartan tie--it's a Navy/Green plaid.  Beautiful.  I have thought about acquiring for myself a Keith Tartan throw, or coat even...but they're soooooo expensive.

Then I'm shopping in Macy's last week and see the Dooney & Bourke Handbag display and they have red and NAVY TARTAN handbags! Seriously!?! They should have just named the "navy" as "KEITH TARTAN (MODERN)" It looks EXACTLY like it.  Someone over at Dooney & Bourke must be a Keith!
Well, I just HAD to get this for myself as an early birthday present!  Oh, would you like to see a picture?  I've linked to my Facebook page--I was quite excited when it arrived today so I posted over there as well.
But, enough yammering....here it is: (*SQUEEEEEE*)

It's been soooo long since I bought myself a proper handbag--this has leather straps and I can REGISTER IT.  How crazy is that!?!
Anyway--welcome to my crazy world.  I should totally have a card to accompany the greatness that is this cute handbag.  So I will think about that and in a future post have a very Scottish-type card for you!
CHEERS!

What I've been working on...

Wasn't I going to post pictures yesterday? Um...yeah...that's my illness manifesting itself...it's called Procrastination.
First, there's my swap for convention....which I modeled off a color challenge swap with my Upline--using Bravo Burgandy and my favorite 1st-new-stamp-set-from-the-new-catty: CIRCLE CIRCUS (LOVE it!!). It's not a color I would chose to use...but it helped me get out of my comfort zone and I ended up really liking the finished product:

So....for convention I was going to use all new IN COLORS, but when Irealized I had 3 full spools of Real Red ribbon decided I should go with the black/red/grey combo....which I'm loving!

NEXT is the Shoebox Swap I'm participating in on Monday afternoon. I decided to do a "Squash Book" or origami-fold mini album. For this project we're using In Colors--Melon Mambo, Crushed Curry and Pumpkin Pie. My first sample (and picture) I used Sahara Sand, Kiwi Kiss and Baja Breeze.
Now I need to get off this computer and finish assembling the In Color Version of my squash book. I work Saturday night (12 hr shift--I'm an RN in a L&D unit), so really need to finish all this hopefully before I need to go to sleep Saturday morning (in about 5 more hours!) GAH!

Convention is coming!!!

I can't believe Convention is almost here! Has it really been a year! w00t!!!!1
My friend and recruiter, Kimberly Stallcup and I fly out to Salt Lake City on Monday, August 3rd, and will return on Sunday, August 9th. I'm taking my camera and plan to post pictures of FUN STUFF during the week.

I was going to have a Stamp-A-Stack class this week....but the time just got away from me, and I'm putting together the Shoebox Swap project our pre-convention activities....then there are the SWAPS I'm making! I'll post a picture of my swap--I decided to use REAL RED since I had 3 full spools of red ribbon! It's pretty cute! I promise I'll share--pics will be up tomorrow night.

Monthly Marker Club!

STAMPIN’ UP MONTHLY MARKER CLUB!!!
Here’s your chance to get your hands on a set of the AMAZING set of Many Marvelous Markers from Stampin’ Up…a little bit at a time!!!
I need AT LEAST FOUR PEOPLE for this club to make…and will let you decide whether you want to pay $38/month for 4 months, or go 6 months for a lesser cost/month.

These markers have 2 tips…fine line and brush tip…and come in all 48 Stampin’ Up colors…and you will end up with the box to store them in!

Here’s how it works:

1. For each month (with a group of 4 people going 4 months), everyone pays $38.00 a month from May-August (+tax and S&H) towards a set of 12 markers—each month you’ll receive a different color “family”: Bold Brights, Soft Subtles, etc. That cost covers your 12 markers that month…but you are free to order more product if you’d like. The price will go down if you’d like to go 6 months—and the bigger the group the fewer markers/month you’ll receive—but you WILL receive all 48 markers and the case to hold them by the end of the commitment period. 
2. We rotate the Hostess each month, so everyone will have the opportunity to receive the Hostess Benefits and free product associated with that month!
3. On one of the months, you will receive the case to hold your markers! A complete set achieved affordably!!
4. Each month we get together (at a mutually agreeable time at my house) we will have a fun project to make and a new stamping technique to learn!

PLEASE RSVP BY MAY 3rd TO LET ME KNOW IF YOU’RE PARTICIPATING!!
Our first meeting will be in late May!

My 2008 Christmas Card

Here's a picture of my Christmas Card for 2008. I CASE'd this from Gretchen Barron who designed this card with White and Gold. Purple is my FAVORITE color and wanted to incorporate that into our family card--plus it's a symbol of Royalty so appropriate!

Too bad I didn't mail these until Dec. 26th! All that embossing on 52 cards was a little much--will DEFINITELY begin earlier next Christmas!!!
